The Schulte Family
Meet the Schulte family.
This past week I had the opportunity to walk the grounds of the Intervale Center and explore the woods with these littles and their parents.
I want to start by giving a shout out to this beautiful state we live in! We are in the peak of fall and this year is absolutely glorious and bursting with color! So, thank you Mother Nature for doing your thang this year and giving me an easy peasy backdrop to work with.
Now, on to my time with this amazing family…
Liz contacted me because she wanted to do “Not Back to School” portraits of the kids since this year they are homeschooling. What a great opportunity to record this very interesting year for their family! They love art, and music, and nature. They love to explore, and not just explore but really get into things and discover and uncover.
One of the things I really want to capture as a family photographer is the essence of each family; what makes them unique, what makes them a tick. The children were very familiar with the Intervale Center so they had no problem giving me a grand tour and showing me their favorite places. I let them lead and just kind of followed behind trying to observe and capture what they found (lots of frogs and tadpoles) and how they interacted with each other and with their environment. They rolled around in the grass, they brought a fishing net and pulled things out of the pond, they stopped to look at fallen leaves and tiny mushrooms. I love that about children…they truly have a gift for uncovering and bringing to light the small unseen things of this world.
This family…they knew how to be silly and laugh together. They were gentle with each other and there was a patience with each discovery, a moment taken to wonder at the nature of things. I came away from our time together not only feeling completely invigorated but truly inspired to go turn over some rocks and see what’s happening.
I ask my families before each session what do you hope your kids remember about their childhood? I think Liz said it best with this:
“Mostly I hope that they remember love, that our house, our world and our parenting weren’t always perfect but in the end they were loved and surrounded by love. I hope too that they remember that they were allowed to believe in magic and wonder and could truly be anything and anyone that want to be. They make our world better by being in it.”
Schulte family, it is my hope and prayer that you continue to explore and find the hidden magic in all of the unseen, that you would laugh together all the days of your lives, and share the love that you have for one another with a world who needs it.
All My Love,
