Shy & Mike

It’s a crisp fall Saturday morning and I find myself walking the beach and wandering the woods with this couple. They are intensely focused on one another and at times it feels like I am intruding. Like they are the ones out on a stroll and I am the one interrupting something personal and intimate. This is what it felt like to work with Shy and Mike.

My desire as a photographer is to be there to coach if need be, but I would much rather be more of a silent third wheel. I want to witness rather than orchestrate, to allow those remarkable moments to surface freely rather than by force. These are the things we want to remember; the touch of a loved one’s hand, the look of love and attraction, the feeling that stirs within when a cheek is brushed with gentle fingertips.

Shy and Mike need only glance at each other and it seemed as though all else had melted away. There was intensity and passion, a sureness of their hearts. It took way more effort on my part to get them to stop gazing deeply into one another’s eyes!

Shy and Mike, thank you for allowing me the opportunity to witness the intimacy and love you two have for one another. It is my hope for you that you will continue to kindle the fire, laugh with abandon, and never stop truly seeing one another.
