2021 Mom’s Holiday Wish List

Have you heard it yet? Christmas music is already being played 24/7 on the radio station, and I couldn’t be happier!! Every year it seems the music comes on earlier and earlier. And before you know it, we’ll be in a sprint towards the big day! Right now there are two topics on everyone’s mind in our household; will all of our holiday gifts get stuck at the ports with the shipping crisis (oh my heart, my son is absolutely obsessed with this!), and what does mom want for Christmas.

Well folks, I can’t help a lick with the first international problem but I can give you some expert advice on what Mom wants for Christmas. So go grab a cup of hot cocoa and snuggle up under a cozy blanket and let’s nail Mom’s holly jolly holiday wish list!

#1: Spa Services

As moms we’ve become accustomed to what I like to call “rough touch”. Don’t worry, I’m not going to get all freaky on you here. What I mean is that we get used to being plowed into by our toddlers during a hug, hands in scalding water for dishes, chemicals on our skin from cleaning products, playtime that resembles wrestling matches, and snuggle time under what seem like the hottest children imaginable. I know that when I get away for a quick pedicure or a hair cut, the gentleness with which the tech uses on me literally calms my nervous system. We need that ladies, a reset and recharge. We need good, healthy, gentle touch…haha!

Here are a few gift ideas to get you headed in the right direction:

  • Manicures and/or Pedicures :: Does she have a favorite place, get her a gift card or a package of 10.

  • Massage :: There are so many amazing types of massage out there. If she enjoys them you can shop around for something more relaxing like Swedish Massage. If she likes something a little more therapeutic try Deep Tissue or Trigger Point massage. And if you really want to try something new and different try a Traditional Thai massage or a Hawaiian Lomi Lomi massage. Or you can get her a membership to a place and she can go once a month!!

  • Spa Packages :: Massage, nails, facials…oh my!

  • Haircut / Color :: Get her a gift certificate to a salon she loves or has been wanting to try

#2: Experiences

The pandemic isn’t completely over, but depending on where you live in this country many large gathering facilities have re-opened. We all know Mom doesn’t really need another trinket (as sweet as it may be) to gather dust on a shelf. What she’d like instead is something to go do with her partner, her family, or her girlfriends. Here are my top picks:

  • Theater :: I know here locally we are fortunate to have The Orpheum and ASU Gammage that offer a wide variety of musicals, choral and orchestral concerts, and plays. And right now they even have some pretty incredible holiday favorites as well.

  • Concerts :: Lots of bands and solo acts have started to tour again. Hop online and see if her favorite artist is playing nearby sometime soon. Or better yet, maybe make a weekend getaway out of it (if you’re able to).

  • Sporting Events :: Right now nation wide you have NBA, NHL, and NFL games to choose from. Maybe college is more her thing, check and see if some college game tickets are available. Or honestly, high schools are playing incredibly competitively these days so maybe take her on a date to see the local high school football team. Bonus: halftime is usually a cool marching band!

#3: Help in the Home

Even for the woman who normally doesn’t mind cooking and cleaning there are just some days that require incredible will power to get the job done. Maybe consider:

  • A Cleaner :: Once a week or every other week. Maybe even once a month or twice a year for a deep clean. When is it hardest to motivate? Where could she use a little more quality time to herself or to spend with family? It’s not a sexy gift but it sure is a blessing!

  • A Cook :: Ok, maybe not an actual cook but there are a lot of services now that deliver food that’s pre-prepped to your door. Or maybe hire a professional chef to cook a gourmet meal in your home. Or get a chef to do a cooking class for her. Or, and I’ve done this a few times, there are services out there that will prep a months worth of meals for you and all you have to do is put them in your freezer and pull them out when you’re ready.

#4: Memories

Well technically a lot of the gifts mentioned above will give her memories. But I’m talking about the kind she can look back on. The kind that capture you just where you are and allows her to reminisce. That’s where I come in friends. Let me tell you about two packages that I offer that the woman in your life will love:

  • Family Portraits :: Oh you’ve been meaning to get them done but just haven’t gotten around to it yet, or a thousand other reasons why. But the time is NOW and she will love it even more if it comes from you! It’s not that hard really, just grab a gift certificate and tell her you’re absolutely excited to get some family photos done! Your kiddos are growing so fast and before you know it, they’ll be out of the nest. Capture them now, hold on to those little fingers and toes, those boy hugs and girl smiles. You can find out all about my family packages here!

  • Crafted Female Photo Shoot :: This is a personal portrait photo shoot that is usually done after some life changing event: a survival story, a break-up, a goal reached, a major accomplishment, a celebration. A Personal Portrait session gives time and space to tell your story with vulnerability. I’m not talking about taking your clothes off vulnerable, I’m talking peel back the layers of who you’ve been to get to that nugget of truth in who you ARE! It takes courage and boldness to be in front of a camera, and that can be a real act of empowerment for women. I work with women to help them craft a session just for them, from picking out their outfits, location, the story they want to tell, etc. If you think your lady would like this, or maybe her and all of her friends you can find out all the details here!

So there you have it! That is this years Holiday Wish List for the lady in your life. Let me know if I forgot anything, I’m always looking for more suggestions. I hope this was helpful! Now go out there and make her holidays amazing!

All My Love,
