Arizona Maternity Photographer: 4 Things to Consider Before a Maternity Photo Shoot
So you’ve decided that you want to have a maternity photo shoot to remember your pregnancy by. But what next? Do you just pick a photographer and book a time? Well the short answer is YES, but there are some things to think about before even doing that. Below I share with you 4 things to consider before booking your maternity session.
Timing
The best time to schedule maternity photos is usually between 25-35 weeks of pregnancy, as the belly is usually at its fullest and most defined during this time. However, every pregnancy is different, and it's important to consider your personal comfort level when scheduling your session. This is also an ideal time because getting into and out of poses is usually easiest for mama during this window of time.
Location
Think about the location of your photo shoot. Do you want an outdoor setting at golden hour? Maybe something a little more classic with an indoor studio? Or maybe you’re a more laid back and casual type of woman and want to document your bump from the comfort of your own home. Maybe you have specific locations that hold a special meaning to you and your partner? Be sure to discuss these options with me to find the best location that suits your style and vision.
Wardrobe
Selecting the right wardrobe is crucial to achieving the desired look and feel for your photos. Oh there are so many styles to choose from. You could do jeans and a bralette. Or a gorgeous boho gown. Or maybe a dress that’s more form fitting and shows off your beautiful curves. A lot of this is dependent on location so choose your location first and then we can work out the details of your wardrobe keeping your location in mind.
Solo or Partner or Family
The beauty of a maternity session is that you have options. Some of you mamas really want to do a solo session, while some of you want to include your partner and/or family. As a solo session there’s a sense of empowerment. With your partner it’s beautiful to remember who you were before baby came along. With the family it’s fun to record the transition from 1-2, or 2-3, and so on. If you decide to shoot with your partner or your family, don’t worry, I’ll always capture solo pics of mom.
There you have it, some initial things to think about before booking that session. Of course if you contact me with absolutely no idea I’m more than happy to walk you through all of these considerations. We’ll go through all the details to craft a maternity photo shoot that is unique to who you are and the vision that you have. Baby bumps are my jam and I love capturing this beautiful transition in life. When you’re ready, I can’t wait to hear from you!
